I have posted at fabprefab images of the finished Glidehouse on show at the Sunset Celebration weekend in Menlo Park, CA. The photos of the completed house were taken on Thursday 13 May (press day). We've also started to get thoughts from attendees this weekend on the Glidehouse forum on LiveModern (click on the invisible link). Marshall [This message has been edited by marshallmayer (edited 05-17-2004).] |

Can someone post their impression of the Glidehouse? Anything you liked or don't like? |

Excellent, Michael! They did a fantastic job of displaying the Glidehouse. By the way, I noticed the innovative use of casters, to move the house around the shop floor, during fabrication. Brilliant idea. Gary |

Gary: would those casters make it a mobile home? ; ) |

I was skeptical at first, but I will say that the Glidehouse is one of the most interesting houses I have seen in a long time. It is certainly not a wobbly box, the finishes are absolutely amazing. Does anyone know if there will be an east coast showing of the glide home. |

FYI, we've just published a "sneak peek" of the 2-story Glidehouse -->2-story Glidehouse on LiveModern (again, click on the invisible link -- is anyone at Dwell paying attention to the usability of their technology?!?). Marshall [This message has been edited by marshallmayer (edited 05-21-2004).] |

Hey, All. Long time, no post. I've been drooling over this Glide house today (not very busy at work). I've got to say, the 4 bedroom courtyard plan with 2016 SF is one of the few house plans I've seen in 4ever that I think I could really go for with minor tweaking. I won't use a stacking washer/dryer--so I'd have to turn that second bath into a laundry room, and I'd have to find a place for our stand up freezer...other than the place where the stackable went because I'd want that to be a pantry---wanting to move out of the city means I'll want to be able to have more stock at home...but other than that...I think it's about perfect. I prefer some of the (I'm guessing software) 3D Studio Max renditions of the siding as opposed to the model that was built--or maybe a mix would be better, but I really dig it over all. What I'd like to see is one of the two bedroom plans with an upstairs added of the two bedroom section, making in a 2 story 4 bedroom. That would be the coolest--or does that add too much cost? I also like the website's options for green living. The idea of using solar panels or a wind power source instead of or in addition to being on the grid is a very nice touch. Not that consumers can't do that on their own, but it's nice seeing someone willing to integrate that. |
